i've received a few emails in the last week from authors interested in writing their own segments of night.blind.  here are some tips for anyone else who wants to join in.

-- REMOTE VIEWING.  google it.  do some research.  or don't.  i don't care.  this two-word prompt was the only nudge the current participants needed.

-- read the current project.  there's a lot of material there, but if you want to join in, i'd recommend familiarizing yourself with the contorted little near-future world we've started to assemble.  certain themes and recurring images have already started to manifest.

-- don't step on toes.  there will inevitably be areas of crossover and collision, but if you want to start a new night.blind storyline, please don't start off by killing Milo White.  contact any authors whose characters you'd like to use.  most of the authors have provided contact information, or you can contact them here.  most are perfectly willing to share their characters.

-- rules: there are no deadlines, no minimum/maximum entry lengths, no content restrictions.  if you read the current submissions, you'll see that they vary widely in terms of length and updates and narrative style and content.

there might not be rules, but here are a few things to consider:

-- we're talking near future, fifty years from now at the most.  people still drive cars, use computers, there don't appear to be space aliens or cures for cancer.  the action is earth-based.  there is still war and pestilence.  people don't yet have robots to wash their dishes, and they don't fly around on personal hovercraft.  that isn't to say that authors couldn't write a hell of a story with those elements, but i'd encourage everyone to try to stay within the same general frame of reference for this future world.

this project is open to everyone, so i hope to see some new blood soon.
