It looks like the forum magically upgraded itself from SMF 1.1.1 to SMF 1.1.6 overnight, that or Hughes has been changing things without telling me.

While this doesn't change anything in terms of day to day forum posting, it removes several security vulnerabilities we were experiencing, such as new members logging in and immediately turning themselves into admins and trying to delete the joint. There are currently no known exploits in 1.1.6, but I'm sure they'll come along.
We still plan to migrate to SMF 2.0 once it's out of the beta stage and once we're sure we can use Tiny Portal and the Helios theme without any problems. For now we'll stick with the 1.1 line and automatic new user registration will remain disabled.
