I must admit all of this started as a midlife crisis. Hi, I'm Paul; the new kid on the block. Allow me to give you the nickel tour; I'm returning to writing after a hiatus of about, oh, twenty years.

It all started with a box. You know the kind; it's been taped shut through about four moves. It's the kind you should really throw it away, obviously you haven't needed it. But, like a kid at Christmas, I opened it to reveal truly bad fiction. It was the journals and writings I had attempted in high school and college.

If it hadn't of been for one of the fellow's I'm fortunate enough to work with, the matter would have ended there. But, when I told him about my turgid discovery, he said, "Gee, Paul, I'm a member of an APA. We'd love to have you."

Hmmmm, I was enjoying talking about writing, rather than actually doing it. Now, it seemed I'd have to put my money where my mouth is, so to speak. And so, about six months ago, I joined an honest to goodness, old fashioned, print APA, publishing four times a year.

I have relearned a lot. However, I looking for some more varied feedback, as my craft needs work. I've poked about, a bit, and I'm still not absolutely certain I'm in the right place, but since I've got my foot in the door ...

OK, I've rewritten this paragraph about four times. I think I'll stop running off at the keyboard and just say, "Hello, glad to be here, hope I can help the team."

Have you submitted anything to ST yet? I'm going to get into the slushpile today and tommorrow. Love to see some of your stuff. Welcome to ST.  Writing is something you come to and back away from but the stories are always there-I guess maybe it's just a matter of having the time to get them out. Good luck.

No, I haven't submitted anything yet. My current effort has mushroomed into something akin to a serialized novella. I'll be happy to submit the beginning this evening. Thanks.

Do you have any shorts? I don't think Paul is taking anything book length for this year-although if they are serialized and good that would be interesting. We did serialization on a collaborative scale under the nightblind project and got some amazing writing. I don't even know where to find that on ST...I'll look.

Welcome to ST, Paul.  Lots of interesting stories here and good conversations.  I'll look forward to reading some of yours in the future.

Er, no. No shorts. How awkward. I have been rather focused on my current effort. Everything else is, well, some is thirty years old. I'm not that person anymore. Hmmmm. I'm a bit hesitant to submit a long piece, if that's not what is being sought, for fear of being lumped in with CoolKid69 as one of "those guys". And on my first day, too.

*sigh*

I wish I had better sense, I really do. But, I don't. Not a lick. So, I suppose you should be on the lookout for a ream of turgid prose and I should be on the lookout for the butt-whopping door.

Before I forget, thanks to both of you for the welcome.

Aw no you took that the wrong way! I was just anxious to see some good shorts for the online division. ST always accepts submissions-I just think Paul has 09 filled up. No by all means submit what you have. Please.

Welcome Paul.

And I think Hughes has 09 filled up with things like impromptu weddings, but hey you never know. Grin
